THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MAY 2, 2007
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE

Mayor Beitz attended a meeting at Tarbutt Township, and Acting Mayor Wayne Junor assumed the chair.

ON MOTION (No. 77-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves council minutes of April 18, 2007 as presented. CARRIED

Dave Jones of Ellwood Robinson spoke to council about his firm's commitment to providing quality work and future bidding on tenders.

Mayor Beitz returned from Sault Area Hospital Foundation meeting at Tarbutt Township, assumed the chair and reported on the meeting.

ON MOTION (No. 78-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves general accounts to May 2, 2007 as presented in the amount of $1,260.58. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 79-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves amalgamated tenders, as presented, in the amount of $1,321,284.93. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 80-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves Laird Township's share of the amalgamated tender, as presented in the amount of $119,494.40. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 81-07) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves By-law 860-07 authorizing the Road Superintendent to temporarily close roads. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 82-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports resolution of County of Simcoe in requesting the Provincial Government increase funding per diem to residents of Long Term Care Homes in the fiscal year 2007-2008 by $3,693 per resident. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 83-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves tiering of bleachers in the beer garden at the Laird fairgrounds. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 84-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council advises Public Works and Government Services Canada that it is still interested in the Lower Lake George Buoy Storage Depot property, and would be willing to discuss same. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 85-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the resolution of Inky Mark, M.P. in petitioning the Government of Canada to enact the Canadian Soldiers' and Peacekeepers' Memorial Wall Act. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 86-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council endorses the Town of Thessalon's concerns regarding the 2007 levy increase of the Algoma District Social Services Board as expressed in a letter to The Honourable Madeleine Meilleur, Minister of Community and Social Services. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 87-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council forwards the 1999 draft Municipal Alcohol Policy to the recreation committee for review and comments, and table for future review by council. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 88-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
