MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 10 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MAY 24, 2007
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 89-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves council minutes of May 2, 2007 and recreation committee minutes of May 1, 2007, as presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 90-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts to April 30, 2007, as presented in the amount of $13,333.45. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 91-07) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves general accounts to May 24, 2007 as presented in the amount of $22,414.04. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 92-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council amends parking by-law for Neebish Road to include a towing option.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 93-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves quote of Algoma Financial for volunteer insurance coverage at $25.00 per volunteer. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 94-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves By-law 861-07 appointing Cody Jarrell as a Provincial Offences Officer. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 95-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council donates $100.00 to the Echo Bay Elks towards its Canada Day fireworks. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 96-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council acknowledges Lois Gormley as Senior of the Year at Trefry Centre BBQ.

ON MOTION (No. 97-07) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council advises the Desbarats to Echo Bay Planning Board that it has no objections to consent application of Henry Kurkiniemi, as presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 98-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council authorizes Dick Beitz and alternate Donna Connolly sit on the Laird Cemetery Board, should Henry Goertzen not wish to. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 99-07) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council purchases a lawn tractor from Kentvale Merchants for a quoted price of $2,299.00. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 100-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council may consider a donation to North Shore Agricultural Society at budget time. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 101-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Dick Beitz that council supports the commemorative tribute to Algoma Manor, in the Sentinel in the amount of $85.50. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 102-07) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council places another co-mingle bin at the disposal site for a cost of $100.00 per month. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 103-07) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council appoints Councillor Wayne Junor as alternate to the Mayors' Group. CARRIED
It was the consensus of council to advise Johnson Township's Mayor that it feels there are enough organizations at present to satisfy local municipality's needs, but would be willing, as in the past, to assist neighbouring township should the need arise.
Councillor Rydall will work with contractor to bring ramp at the fairgrounds up to code.
ON MOTION (No. 104-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that the council meeting be adjourned.
