ON MOTION (No. 244-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves minutes of July 25, and August 3, 2007 as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 245-07) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves general accounts to August 22, 2007 as presented in the amount of $19,916.01. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 246-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts to July 31, 2007 as presented in the amount of $74,967.59 operating, and $270.00 Long Point Subdivision. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 247-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves Laird Hall addition quote of Karhi Contracting in the amount of $33,481.00 plus GST. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 248-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the concerns of Tay Valley Township regarding private land owners not necessarily holding sub-surface mineral rights. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 249-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the petition of Municipality of North Grenville to the Premier of Ontario requesting written assurance that his Government will not implement a policy requiring meters on private residential wells now or at any time in the future. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 250-07) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the concerns to Town of Kingsville requesting the Province of Ontario ensure that volunteer and part time firefighters are defined as "firefighters' and treated equitably with their full time counterparts in accordance with the regulations detailed in Bill 221. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 251-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports the resolution of City of Kawartha Lakes in requesting the Minister of Health to review areas designated as under serviced, and offer effective incentives to family physicians in Ontario to continue to practice comprehensive, community-based family medicine. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 252-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports the resolution of Town of Erin in its petition to the Honourable Laurel Broten, Minister of the Environment to place a moratorium on issuing any new permit-to-take-water for commercial water bottling companies until such time as a meaningful levy royalty, payable to the local municipality is put into place. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 253-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports the resolution of Township of South Stormont in petitioning the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to review and shorten the time frame required for approval of drainage maintenance request to allow for a more flexible and reasonable construction/maintenance season especially where weather conditions warrant and extended season and, provide federal funding for increased costs for those expenses incurred over and above those provided for within the approved Engineers Report. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 254-07) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the resolution of East Algoma Chiefs, Mayors and Reeves Council in petitioning the Province to upload the entire costs of the administration and payment of benefits for the ODSP. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 255-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the concerns of Matthews Memorial Hospital Association that the Sault Area Hospital Board did not appoint its nominee to the Board at the recent SAH Annual General Meeting. Council supports MMHA in its discussions with the SAH Board to allow MMHA to continue the historic precedent of nominating individuals to the SAH Board for appointment. It is understood that a self-nominated individual, not supported by MMHA, was appointed to the Board to serve this area. As this individual is to represent the MMHA and its area municipalities, we would request an explanation as to why MMHA's nominee was rejected for the self-nominated individual. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 256-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the resolution of the Municipality of West Grey in adding its support to amending section 36(8) of the Building Code Act, 1992, as amended, to provide municipalities a time limit of two (2) years from the date of discovery for commencing legal proceedings. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 257-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports Science Enterprise Algoma by contributing the hall costs for its seminar, October 4, 2007. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 258-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council accepts quote of Merril Evoy Construction for Knox Presbyterian Church repairs as presented in the amount of $3,498.00. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 259-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports Ministry of Tourism's recommendations regarding cross-border travel as discussed with Department of Homeland Security. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 260-07) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that the Clerk and Intern attend Planning Conference is Sudbury, September 24 to September 26, 2007. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 261-07) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that a schedule of payments be established for payment to Sault Area Hospital. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 262-07) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
