Present: Mayor: Dick Beitz Councillors: Charles Frenette, Wayne Junor Clerk: Phyllis MacKay ON MOTION (No. 12-08) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves council minutes of January 8, 2008, as presented. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 13-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves By-law Number 867-08 appointing Harvey Wright as a Provincial Offences Officer for the Township of Laird. CARRIED Sault Naturalists Club President David Euler spoke to council about establishing a bird viewing platform at pumpkin point park. He will speak to the park committee before proceeding further. Planning Intern Jennifer Moran reviewed Introduction to Official Plan with council, and summarized questionnaire of councillors' responses. ON MOTION (No. 14-08) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts to December 31, 2007 as presented in the amount of $23,418.83. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 15-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves general accounts to January 23, 2008 as presented in the amount of $9,306.39. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 16-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports the resolution of North Grenville in petitioning the Provincial Government to commit 1/8th of the current 8% Provincial Sales Tax to Municipalities to fund Municipal Infrastructure Programs. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 17-08) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council adds Kathleen Sutherland to the Main Recreation Committee effective immediately. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 18-08) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the resolution of the Municipality of South Bruce requesting the Provincial Government implement a "Responsible Use Plan" for urban pesticide use and not impose a ban on cosmetic pesticide use. CARRIED Mayor Beitz reported on concerns of North Shore Agricultural Society regarding financing the annual fair.
