MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 31 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N APRIL 16, 2008
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE

ON MOTION (No. 67-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves council minutes of April 2, and recreation committee minutes of March 27, 2008, as presented. CARRIED
Jennifer Moran reviews Countryside Policy as well as presented Parks and Open Spaces, Public Service Facilities and Waterfront Policies.
ON MOTION (No. 68-08) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves road accounts to March 31, 2008 as presented in the amount of $16,063.14. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 69-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves general accounts to April 16, 2008 as presented in the amount of $8,808.83. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 70-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves By-law Number 875-08 accepting 2008 Provincial Infrastructure Investment Program criteria and funds. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 71-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council endorses City of Colborne resolution regarding petitioning the Association of Municipalities of Ontario to work with the Provincial Government in establishing funding to offset Ontarians with Disabilities Act requirements.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 72-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council endorses the resolution of City of Ottawa in calling for the Province to pay a proportional share of MPAC costs related to education property taxes. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 73-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council donates $250.00 to Matthews Memorial Hospital Association in support of its efforts to recruit new physicians. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 74-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council, endorses the resolution of Township of North Frontenac et al in petitioning the Government to base the Federal Gas Tax transferred to municipalities on year-round population. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 75-08) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council endorses the resolution of Township of North Frontenac et al in petitioning the Province of Ontario to exempt at the very least all Ontario municipalities with populations under 10,000 from paying Ontario Sales Tax (PST) to assist with supporting infrastructure in small rural municipalities that cannot be reasonably sustained through property taxation. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 76-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council invites science enterprise Algoma (seA) to a council meeting to hear information on improving agricultural diversity in the Algoma region. CARRIED
It was the consensus of council that the clerk attends the Ontario Association of Cemetery and Funeral Professional spring seminar in Barrie, June 18, 2008.
ON MOTION (No. 77-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
