MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 32 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD

ON MOTION (No. 78-08) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves council minutes of April 16, and Laird fairgrounds management board minutes of March 20, 2008, as presented. CARRIED
Ross MacLeod of Science Enterprise Algoma spoke to council about oil seeds, bio-fibre, alternate fuels crops. Science Enterprise Algoma is looking for community support.
Road Superintendent Hunter reviewed amalgamated tender costs with council.
Jennifer Moran reviewed proposed policies for Hamlet and Cultural Heritage.
ON MOTION (No. 79-08) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves general accounts to May 7, 2008 as presented in the amount of $14,537.56. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 80-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves changes in spring clean-up hours at the disposal site to Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., after the Victoria Day week-end. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 81-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves 2008 Fairgrounds Management Board budget, as presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 82-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports resolution of Tay Valley Township petitioning the Provincial Government establish an infrastructure funding formula similar to those developed for the Move Ontario Fund so that municipal politicians and staff do not have to waste valuable time, effort and money in applying for various programs. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 83-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council purchases a utility trailer to use with garden tractor at various sites in the municipality, from TSC/The Incredible Country Hardware Store for $1,049.00 plus taxes. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 84-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports resolution of Township of Tiny in supporting MPP Garfield Dunlop's resolution to the Provincial Legislature petitioning the government commemorate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Samuel de Champlain to Huronia in Ontario on August 1, 1615. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 85-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council reduces tax arrears under $5.00, for a total of $23.33. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 86-08) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council contributes $50.00 to St. Joseph Island Community Policing Group to sponsor speaker on drug addiction. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 87-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council authorizes Laird International Raceway install a garage on fairgrounds property to assist with safety issues of cars exiting the track, provided Laird fairgrounds management board has no objections. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 88-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council corresponds with North Bay Ministry of Transportation office advising of its concerns regarding intersection of old highway 17 and Bar River Road.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 89-08) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
