MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 40 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD ON OCTOBER 1, 2008
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.
Present:
Mayor: Dick Beitz
Councillors: Charles Frenette, Wayne Junor, Todd Rydall
Road Superintendent: Michael Hunter
Clerk: Phyllis MacKay
ON MOTION (No. 153-08) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves council minutes of September 17, 2008 as presented. CARRIED
Randall Thomas, Provincial Offences Officer and council spoke about a number of issues.
ON MOTION (No. 154-08) Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves general accounts to October 1, 2008 as presented in the amount of $5,640.20. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 155-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves of sending a letter to MTO regarding repairs to Bar River Road East. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 156-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves of responding by letter to Matthews Memorial Hospital regarding requested feedback that would help to assist in their investigation.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 157-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports the Municipality of Tweed's resolution requesting the Provincial and Federal Governments become involved and reduce taxes on petroleum products. CARRIED
The Ministry of Environment's letter of September 24, 2008 was discussed. It was the consensus of council that the Tri-Neighbours disposal site and Johnson-Tarbutt disposal site should be visited.
ON MOTION (No. 158-08) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the Town of Fort Erie's resolution requesting the Minister of Health to legislatively enact protective status of the rural hospital designation. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 159-08) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the resolution of the Township of Macdonald, Meredith and Aberdeen Additional regarding concerns of not allowing pedestrian and bicycle traffic along Hwy 17, 4-lane. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 160-08) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
