THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MARCH 18, 2009
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE

ON MOTION (No. 57-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves council minutes of April 4, and recreation committee minutes of February 24, 2009, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 58-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts to February 28, 2009 as presented in the amount of $10,708.14. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 59-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves general accounts to March 18, 2009 as presented in the amount of $5,764.59. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 60-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves design of roof on Laird Hall and proceeds to certified drawings and tenders. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 61-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves By-law 884-09 regarding mapping for official plan. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 62-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves resolution of City of Greater Sudbury in calling on the Provincial Government for stricter monitoring of retirement homes. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 63-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council endorses resolution of Municipality of Middlesex Centre in petitioning Department of Fisheries and Oceans delegate authority to Conservation Authorities in regard to issues within their existing in-depth knowledge base. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 64-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports resolution of City of Sault Ste. Marie in voicing its concerns regarding NOSM graduates having to complete residency in southern Ontario in certain specialties. CARRIED

Great Lakes Power representatives spoke to council about 2009 proposed work plans and new rates.

ON MOTION (No. 65-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council endorses resolution of Municipality of Thames Centre in petitioning the Province to provide immediate support to municipalities and private sector partners to secure long-term viability of waste diversion programs. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 66-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports Matthews Memorial Hospital Public Relations Committee with a donation of $500.00. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 67-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council endorses resolution of Town of Mattawa in petitioning the Federal and Provincial Governments to negotiate a more feasible and accessible cost sharing plan to allow all municipalities a greater opportunity to share in grants. CARRIED

Volunteer of the Year was discussed. Recreation committee members will be asked to submit names for consideration.

ON MOTION (No. 68-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
