MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 51 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N APRIL 1, 2009
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE

ON MOTION (No. 69-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves council minutes of March 18, 2009 with amendment of date. CARRIED

Girlie Collings, secretary of the Laird Hall Committee spoke to council about entrance to Laird Hall and grant to replace it.

ON MOTION (No. 70-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council applies for grant for front ramp/entrance to Laird Hall, as discussed. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 71-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves general accounts to April 1, 2009, as presented in the amount of $7,521.45. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 72-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves quote of Brian Smith for dinner requirements to Thank-you Dinner, April 18, 2009, as presented in the amount of $13.00 per person, tax included. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 73-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council honours John MacKay at Thank-you Dinner as 2008 Volunteer of the Year, and also honours Kenneth Tomlinson for his 40 some year of part-time service to Laird Township. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 74-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council tender for new half-ton truck, as discussed. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 75-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves attendance at FONOM of Mayor Beitz, Councillors Junor and Connolly and Clerk MacKay. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 76-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports resolution of Municipality of South Bruce regarding funding for Conservation Authorities. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 77-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports resolutions of East Algoma Chiefs Mayors and Reeve Council regarding passenger rail service and establishment of invasive species centre in Sault Ste. Marie. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 78-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports resolution of Town of Lakeshore in petitioning the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to review each drain project in a timely fashion and properly determine the appropriateness of applying the Ministry of Natural Resources fish spawning restriction window. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 79-09) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports resolutions of Municipality of Grey Highlands in petitioning the Province undertake a comprehensive review of the potential health and land use impacts to the general public associated with the placement of all renewal energy facilities. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 80-09) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council authorize Jack Priest be its representative to invitation only lake-by-lake meetings regarding Great Lakes Vision, Goals and Strategies. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 81-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council donates $1,000 to North Shore Agricultural Society’s Annual Fair. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 82-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council closes the next portion of the meting to the public to discuss a personal issues relating to staff. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 83-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council opens the meeting to the public. CARRIED

ON MOTION (NO. 84-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
