ON MOTION (No. 122-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves council minutes of May 13, 2009, as presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 123-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council responds to Neebish Road resident as discussed. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 124-09) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves general accounts to May 27, 2009 as presented in the amount of $7,033.67. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 125-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves road accounts to April 30, 2009 as presented in the amount of $25,481.13. CARRIED
It was the consensus of council to check with Central Algoma Secondary School environmental group to ask about litter clean-up at the waste disposal site.
ON MOTION (No. 126-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council endorses Township of Woolwich and Township of Wellington with respect of Bill 221 as it relates to volunteer and part-time firefighters.
ON MOTION (No. 127-09) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor
WHEREAS the Township of Laird supports practices that contribute to the creation of a sustainable environment; AND whereas Homegrown OntarioTM is a brand that allows Ontario consumers to support Ontario farmers by purchasing Ontario produced meat and poultry; AND whereas Ontario farmers adhere to the highest quality standards set forth by the Canadian provincial and federal government regulatory boards; THEREFORE be it resolved that the procurement practice of purchasing meat and poultry products produced by Ontario farmers be identified as the preferred local, sustainable procurement practice; BE it further resolved that the purchase of all Ontario produced meat and poultry sourced locally requires the burning of less fossil fuel and food trucked or even flown in from hundreds or even thousand of miles away.
ON MOTION (No. 128-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council contributes $250.00 to Central Algoma Secondary School graduation exercises. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 129-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council endorses resolution No. 65/28 of the City of Ottawa regarding Ontario Municipal Board's failure to consider Planning Act & Official Plans of local governments. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 130-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
