MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 55 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N JUNE 10, 2009
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 133-09) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves minutes of May 27 and 28, 2009. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 134-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council closes the next portion of the meeting to the public to discuss property acquisition, equipment information and staffing issues. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 135-09) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council return to open meeting. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 136-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council have Tulloch Engineering do a report for Ministry of the Environment requesting exemption to 100m side yard at disposal site. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 137-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council ask neighbouring municipalities if they would be interested in either sharing cost of used compactor or renting same. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 138-09) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council offer By-law and Provincial Offences Officer position to Daryl Brumfield provided he can be sworn in as an officer of the court. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 139-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves general accounts to June 10, 2009 in the amount of $9,632.56. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 140-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council endorses resolution of Oxford County in petitioning the Provincial Government enact legislation to grant municipalities authorization to eliminate capping in protected property classes. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 141-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council endorses resolution of Township of South Stormont in requesting simultaneous dispatch for EMS and Fire Response. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 142-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council endorses resolution of Town of Smith Falls in petitioning the Provincial Government increase annual grants to libraries. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 143-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports resolution of City of Pickering in petitioning the WSIB provide protection for volunteer and part-time firefighters. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 144-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports resolution of Town of Hawkesbury in lobbying the Federal and Ontario Governments to ensure that investments made by Canadian industries be protected on a long term basis and be secured against being moved outside the country. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 145-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports resolution of Pickering regarding harmonized sales tax. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 146-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council corresponds with Jocelyn Township, advising that it does not support activities outside the Health Care Steering Committee with regards to Matthews Memorial Hospital. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 147-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council strongly advocates for a representative of the Central Algoma Rural Health Care Committee on the Provincial Rural and Northern Ontario Health Care Committee. CARRIED

It was the consensus of council that summer meetings be scheduled for July 22 and August 19, 2009.

ON MOTION (No. 148-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
