Present: Mayor: Dick Beitz Councillors: Donna Connolly, Chuck Frenette, Wayne Junor, Todd Rydall Road Superintendent: Michael Hunter Clerk: Phyllis MacKay ON MOTION (No. 248-09) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves council minutes of November 18, and recreation committee minutes of November 24, 2009, as presented. CARRIED Tanna Elliott of Freshwater Coalition and Kensington Conservancy spoke to council about invasive species and requested a donation. Jennifer Moran reported on Train the Trainer session with regard to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. ON MOTION (No. 249-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves Customer Service Policy, required by Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, as presented. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 250-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves general accounts to December 2, 2009 in the amount of $33,025.66, as presented. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 251-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves recreation committee budget line item transfer to accommodate insulating and residing the kitchen end of the Bar River Hall. CARRIED Bob Wood of M.R. Wright will be contacted again and Councillor Rydall will also try to contact him. ON MOTION (No. 252-09) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports resolution of Township of Madawaska Valley in petitioning the Province of Ontario change legislation of assessment back to 2008 values. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 253-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports the McNab/Braeside Disaster Relief Committee with a donation of $250.00. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 254-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council participates in the Volunteer Service Awards as per invitation of the Ministry of citizenship and Immigration. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 255-09) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports Private Members Bill of Welland MP Malcolm Allen in petitioning the Federal Government exempt Royal Canadian Legion from paying GST on purchase of poppies. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 256-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council acknowledges letter from Laird Hall Committee. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 257-09) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council closes the next portion of the meeting to discuss personal issues. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 258-09) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council returns to open meeting. CARRIED It was the consensus of council to support the annual full-time staff dinner.
