MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 6 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N FEBRUARY 16, 2011
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE

ON MOTION (No. 25-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves minutes of February 2, 2011, as presented. CARRIED
Mayor Watson of Macdonald, Meredith and Aberdeen Additional Township brought council up to date on its meeting with the Ministry of Transportation regarding Genivar proposal for Highway 17.
Errol Caldwell, Research Director, Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Center spoke to council about the Rural Agri-Innovation Network initiative.
ON MOTION (No. 26-11) Of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves general accounts to February 16, 2011, as presented in the amount of $62,742.59. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 27-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts to October 31, 2010 as presented in the amount of $29,772.77. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 28-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the efforts of Rural Agri-Innovation Network (RAIN) in attempting to stimulate rural agri-innovation activities. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 29-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council authorizes payment to North Channel Restoration Services, less administrative fee, as discussed. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 30-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor
Whereas there is a requirement to investigate methods and crops for maximizing agricultural and woody biomass for a number of economic opportunities, and
Whereas the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre has requested Laird Township partnership through hosting and administering a Youth Intern Position involved in the Sustainable Biomasss Production Zone Project,
Be it resolved that Laird Council accepts a role in the project of administering the payroll and associated benefits of the project youth intern for the duration of the CanAdvance funded study. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 31-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council appoints Allen Prodan to the Desbarats to Echo Bay Planning Board for the present term of council. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 32-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves Committees and Boards for 2011, as presented and amended. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 33-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports resolution 2011-33 of the Township of Plummer Additional regarding ongoing costs of removing dams and beaver. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 34-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves going to amalgamated tender for 2011, as presented.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 35-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council closes the next portion of the meeting to the public to discuss a personal issue regarding leave of absence. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 36-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council returns to open meeting. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 37-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves leave of absence as discussed. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 38-11) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council corresponds with the Minister of Transportation regarding Highway 17 proposal of Genivar, as discussed. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 39-11) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
