MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 8 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MARCH 23, 2011
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 53-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves minutes of March 2, 2011, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 54-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves general accounts to March 23, 2011, as presented in the amount of $74,322.50. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 55-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves road accounts to January 31, 2011, as presented in the amount of $112,895.18. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 56-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves snow plow truck specifications as presented, and go to Request for Proposal for same. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 57-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves draft amendment to Article 2 of proposed Fire Agreement with Macdonald, Meredith and Aberdeen Additional Township, and require joint ownership of all future capital purchases. CARRIED

Donnie Varcoe spoke to council about racing on Sundays.

It was the consensus of council to allow D. Varcoe purchase all thirty pads at the fairgrounds for the 2011 season.

ON MOTION (No. 58-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approach Laird Fairgrounds Management Board to see if 3 Sundays, July 10 and 17, 2011 and August 28, 2011 would be acceptable for Sunday racing. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 59-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports the Municipality of Brighton regarding OPP costs and OMPF funding. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 60-11) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports the proposed bike route from Sault Ste. Marie to Sudbury, as presented by Lake Huron North Shore Bike Group. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 61-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves extending the Agreement for the Provision of 9-1-1 CERB Services with the Ontario Provincial Police. CARRIED

May 14, 2011 was the date set for Thank-you Dinner. Riunite will be asked to supply costs.

ON MOTION (No. 62-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that Kathy Sutherland be named 2010 Volunteer of the Year. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 63-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
