MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 10 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N APRIL 20, 2011
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.
Present:
Mayor: Dick Beitz
Councillors: Donna Connolly, Chuck Frenette, Wayne Junor, Todd Rydall

ON MOTION (No. 71-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves council minutes of April 6, 2011 and recreation committee minutes of January 25, February 22 and March 29, 2011. CARRIED
Bill Durnford of Sault College along with Jim Boniferro and Dr. Ron Common, President of Sault College spoke to council about current and future building activities at the College. Council was asked to help support these initiatives. Their request will be look at during budget deliberations.
ON MOTION (No. 72-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves general accounts to April 20, 2011 as presented in the amount of $8,322.59. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 73-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves road accounts to March 31, 2011 as presented in the amount of $20,299.77. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 74-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council communicates with Laird International Raceway Inc. advising that an engineer's statement certifying bleacher safety be received prior to start of racing season. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 75-11) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves write-off of $12.05, tax accounts under $5.00. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 76-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports Regional Municipality of Halton in its efforts to have a portion of HST directed to municipalities as a new predictable funding mechanism. CARRIED
It was the consensus of council that councillors attends FONOM conference if circumstances allow.
ON MOTION (No. 77-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports City of Mississauga in its efforts to have a portion of HST directed to municipalities as a new predictable funding mechanism.
CARRIED
Mayor Beitz reported on Algoma District Municipal Association's April 16, 2011 meeting.
ON MOTION (No. 78-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves attendance of clerk at AMCTO Spring Workshop, May 4-6, 2011 in Little Current. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 79-11) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves donation of $200 to Echo Bay Elks to put towards Canada Day fireworks. CARRIED
Next council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, 2011.
Councillor/Laird Police Services Board Chair Junor reported on his meeting with the Ontario Provincial Police. He stated that he could have a fellow councillor attend with him at activity for selecting new District Commander.
ON MOTION (No. 80-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports City of Oshawa regarding school professional development days for elections using schools. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 81-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
