MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 12 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MAY 18, 2011
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

Macdonald, Meredith and Aberdeen Additional Township Council discussed the Fire Agreement with Laird council. Joint budget items were also discussed.

ON MOTION (No. 94-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves minutes of May 3, 2011, as presented. CARRIED

Resident Henry Goertzen spoke to council about the street light at the corner of Lake George Road and Government Road.

ON MOTION (No. 95-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council close the next portion of the meeting due to a personal issue. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 96-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council return to open meeting. CARRIED

Council will communicate with Jim Erb about Macdonald, Meredith and Aberdeen Additional Council's decision regarding road.

It was the consensus of council to share expenditures to resurface and surface treat Bar River Road from railway tracks to end of new construction.

ON MOTION (No. 97-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves Request for Proposal of Snowplow Truck from Lakeway Truck Centre in the amount of $177,601.12, taxes included. CARRIED

It was the consensus of council to not act on request for bus ahead sign on Bar River Road.

ON MOTION (No. 98-11) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council remove streetlight at corner Government and Lake George Roads, and rescind By-law Number 578-83. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 99-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts to April 30, 2011, as presented in the amount of $29,869.92. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 100-11) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves general accounts to May 19, 2011, as presented in the amount of $14,598.57. CARRIED

ON MOTION (NO. 101-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves transfer of funds between municipal accounts with one signature, that of the Treasurer of the Corporation of the Township of Laird. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 102-11) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves the addition of Jack Priest to the Laird Recreation Main Committee. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 103-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports Resolution No. 2011-127 of the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers in petitioning the Minister of Transportation and the Minister of Northern Development and Mines as well as Share the Road Cycling Coalition to work with municipalities and First Nations to establish a SAFE cycling trail from Sault Ste. Marie, to Sudbury. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 104-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the CAA (Ontario) in petitioning the Government of Ontario dedicate a portion of the new revenue collected from the provincial portion of H.S.T. charged on gasoline and diesel sales to municipalities. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 105-11) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports resolution of Town of Amherstburg in opposing the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission's shipment of 16 radioactive steam generators through the Great Lakes to the St. Lawrence Seaway to Sweden. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 106-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council requests of Mike Brown, MPP to describe what action was taken by his office with the Minister of Transportation regarding comments at public meeting on Bar River Road, Highway 17 East intersection. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 107-11) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that the council meeting by adjourned.
