MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 28 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MARCH 7, 2012
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 31-12) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves council minutes of February 15, and recreation committee minutes of January 31 and February 29, 2012, as presented. CARRIED

Algoma Power Inc. personnel spoke to council about customer relations, engineering and forestry practices.

Ministry of Transportation and Genivar reviewed with council its preferred access to Highway 17 four lanes as it relates to Highway 638 entrance onto Highway 17 and the elimination of Bar River Road at grade entrance to Highway 17.

ON MOTION (No. 32-12) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves general accounts to March 7, 2012 as presented in the amount of $23,799.54. CARRIED

It was the consensus of council to leave waste disposal site hours as is. A letter will be sent to area resident regarding this decision.

ON MOTION (No. 33-12) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports resolution of Ontario Urban Forest Council in its efforts to have the Federal and Provincial Governments take a leadership role in recognizing the need to support and assist with control and management of the Emerald Ash Borer, and any future significant imported diseases and insects. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 34-12) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council appoints Trudy Wissell to the main recreation committee. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 35-12) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council advises the Laird fairgrounds management board that any requests for monetary support should be included in its annual budget request.CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 36-12) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the efforts of the City of Greater Sudbury in its request for regulation of gasoline prices. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 37-12) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council authorizes the collection of all three years of tax arrears, as at December 31, 2011, after warning letter starting the tax arrears procedure is issued. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 38-12) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council advises Vicary Fremlin that the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing recommends not splitting his property, but council may look favourable on his consent application. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 39-12) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council closes the next portion of the meeting to discuss a personal/property standards matter. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 40-12) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council return to open meeting. CARRIED

It was the consensus of council to advise Sault College representative that it does not wish to entertain giving funds to its current capital campaign.

ON MOTION (No. 41-12) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
