MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 29 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MARCH 21, 2012
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE

ON MOTION (No. 42-12) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves minutes of March 7, 2012 as presented. CARRIED

Fire Chief Janice Catling reviewed 2011 activities for council.

Lindsey Palumbo and Edith Orr spoke to council on behalf of Central Algoma Freshwater Coalition.

ON MOTION (NO. 43-12) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves road accounts to February 29, 2012 as presented in the amount of $32,794.80. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 44-12) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves general accounts to March 21, 2012 as presented in the amount of $114,979.05. CARRIED

Draft Laird International Raceway Inc. Lease Agreement was reviewed. It will be sent to D. Varcoe for his perusal.

ON MOTION (No. 45-12) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the resolution of Township of St. Joseph in its concerns that one school may opt out of the 7-12 program proposed for CASS. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 46-12) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the resolution of Clarington in petitioning the Province place a moratorium on construction of Industrial Wind Turbines until the concerns regarding damage and devastation within our communities are studied. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 47-12) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports the resolution of Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen in petitioning the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs reconsider the eligibility requirements that all applicants seeking compensation for wildlife damage require a valid Farm Business Registration Number. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 48-12) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports the private members bill re Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act to ensure that Northern Ontario keep at least its current 10 federal ridings during the post-census readjustment of riding boundaries. CARRIED

It was the consensus of council to send a thank you to Rob Laframboise for hosting the Children's Perch Fishing Derby.

ON MOTION (No. 49-12) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council close the next portion of the meeting to discuss a personal matter. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 50-12) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council return to open meeting. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 51-12) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
