Present: Mayor: Dick Beitz Councillors: Chuck Frenette, Wayne Junor, Todd Rydall Clerk: Phyllis MacKay ON MOTION (No. 60-12) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves minutes of April 4, 2012 as presented. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 61-12) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts as presented in the amount of $23,888.11. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 62-12) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves general accounts to April 18, 2012 as presented in the amount of $5,909.45. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 63-12) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves By-law Number 920-12 appointing Aileen Pollari as Provincial Offences Officer. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 64-12) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Wayne Junor that council authorizes donation of $250.00 to the Echo Bay Elks towards its Canada Day celebrations. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 65-12) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves Janice Catling as volunteer of the year for 2011. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 66-12) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council authorizes spring clean-up at the waste disposal site for Friday, May 25, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CARRIED Livestock running at large was discussed. A by-law will be drafted for council's consideration. The issue of Laird Central School's possible closure was discussed. Mayor Beitz will speak with chair of the Laird School Council regarding its opinions. Next council meeting is rescheduled to May 9, 2012. Mayor Beitz reported on the issues dealt with at the recent Algoma District Municipal Association meeting.
