Present: Mayor: Dick Beitz Councillors: Donna Connolly, Chuck Frenette, Wayne Junor, Todd Rydall Clerk: Phyllis MacKay ON MOTION (No. 42-13) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves council minutes of March 6, and recreation committee minutes of February 26, 2013, as presented. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 43-13) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves road accounts to February 29, 2013, as presented in the amount of $31,888.99. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 44-13) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves general accounts to March 20, 2013 as presented in the amount of $56,684.12. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 45-13) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council passes By-law 933-13 appointing Michael Hunter as weed inspector for the Township of Laird. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 46-13) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports FONOM in its petition regarding proposed regulation of forest sector. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 47-13) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council supports Township of South Stormont and Jocelyn Township regarding the issue of forced bilingual sign laws in Ontario. CARRIED The Annual Thank-You Dinner will be held at Laird Hall, April 13, 2013 provided catering and hall available permits. Hank King will be asked to cater. ON MOTION (No 48-13) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council closes the next portion of the meeting to discuss personal issues. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 49-13) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council returns to open meeting. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 50-13) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Wayne Junor that council appoints Keith MacLean as grounds manager, effective immediately. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 51-13) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that council communicates with Algoma District School Board Ad Hoc Committee expressing its feelings regarding the name of the new consolidated school. It is felt that a new name, mascot and colours would benefit all. CARRIED ON MOTION (No. 52-13) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Donna Connolly that the council meeting be adjourned.
