MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 67 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N APRIL 2, 2014
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 52-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council approves council minutes of March 5, 2014 as presented. CARRIED

Rod Fremlin of Matthews Memorial Hospital Association spoke to council regarding donations. The request will be considered at budget time.

Fire Chief Janice Catling reported to council on previous year's calls and proposed activities for the coming year.

ON MOTION (No. 53-14) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves general accounts to April 2, 2014 as presented in the amount of $44,289.18. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 54-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council adds additional support to AMO regarding municipal liability reform. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 55-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports FONOM's objection to Bill 83 that would permit Organizations damaging responsible businesses and should not be protected by legislation. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 56-14) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves consent application of Drew and Laura Raisanen with farm land going to Edward Lapish. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 57-14) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports Clerk's attendance at Spring Workshop of AMCTO in North Bay, April 30 to May 2, 2014. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 58-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports resolution of Wollaston Township in petitioning the Provincial Government in allowing municipalities more autonomy to regulate their own development of private roads and un-opened road allowances in ways that are appropriate for their specific area. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 59-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Chuck Frenette that council supports Niagara Region in petitioning the Provincial Government to take immediate action to prevent the proposed 42% electricity rate increase over the next five years, and any other rate increases from being implemented. CARRIED

The date for thank-you dinner was discussed with the possibility of May 3, 2014 being proposed.

ON MOTION (No. 60-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Dick Beitz that council approves leave of absence of Councillor Chuck Frenette effective immediately and until further notice. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 61-14) of Chuck Frenette, seconded by Todd Rydall that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
