MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 70 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MAY 21, 2014
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.
Present:

ON MOTION (No. 84-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves council minutes of May 7, and recreation committee minutes of April 29, 2014 as presented. CARRIED
Fire Chief Janice Catling and Macdonald Township Councillor Lee Mason spoke to council about the proposed purchase of a used equipment truck. Macdonald Township is looking at a maximum of $50,000 for the truck and requests that Laird contribute $25,000 towards it. As there appears to be no emergency regarding this purchase, Laird Council will discuss it with other budget items. The matter of having a Councillor from Laird Township sit in on fire meeting was discussed. Councillor Mason was to take this back to his Council. The 2014 Fire Department Budget was to be requested.
ON MOTION (No. 85-14) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council advice property owner at 109 Birch Point Drive that it will clean out easement abutting his property, but doesn't anticipate any action regarding retaining wall at this time. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 86-14) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves road accounts to April 30, 2014 as presented in the amount of $26,940.15. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 87-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves general accounts to May 21, 2014 as presented in the amount of $12,817.18. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 88-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves By-law Number 948-14 formally appointing Glen Irwin as Chief Building Official. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 89-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves expenditure of $500.00 to Juno Beach Centre Association regarding D-D Tribute Program, and in particular recognizing James Robert Catling of Laird Township who perished on Juno Beach, June 6, 1944.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 90-14) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council advises that it would look favourably on a lot addition from Darwin Rydall to Lance Creor on Rydall Mill Road. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 91-14) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves office closing June 30, 2014 with staff using a vacation day. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 92-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves amendment of By-law 918-12 to include fines similar to those already established for Neebish and Finns' Bay Road areas, and applies to Chief Justice for approval. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 93-14) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Donna Connolly that council approves conveyance application of F. Carullo as per information presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 94-14) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves By-law Number 949-14 rescinding By-law Number 919-12, and setting regulations and fees for waste disposal site. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 95-14) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council closes the next portion of the meeting to discuss property issues. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 96-14) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that council returns to open meeting. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 97-14) of Donna Connolly, seconded by Todd Rydall that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
