MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 4 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N FEBRUARY 4, 2015
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 22-15) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves council minutes of January 21, 2015, as presented. CARRIED

A joint meeting was held with Laird Township Police Services Board and Laird Council. Minutes of meeting recorded as Police Services minutes.

ON MOTION (No. 23-15) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves general accounts to February 4, 2015 as presented in the amount of $122,761.65. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 24-15) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves recreation committee minutes of January 27, 2015 with comments that Laird hall rental of $2,000 be placed in the 2015 budget, and be noted as a donation to the Trefry Centre. Any future requests for funding from the Trefry Centre, considered by council, will be adjusted by the $2,000 rental fee. It is also suggested that repairs be considered for the Rink refrigerator. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 25-15) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council corresponds with MP Bryan Hayes, copy to MPP Mike Mantha, regarding decision of the railway not to attend to the beaver dam under the railway bridge in the Village of Bar River until spring. CARRIED

Municipal grader costs were reviewed. The purchase of a used grader will be investigated.

ON MOTION (No. 26-15) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves payment to Acrow as per its request, in the amount of $156,723.09, as recommended by Tulloch Engineering. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 27-15) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council use a survey to determine what property is required on Lapish Road from Bar River Road to the small bridge. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 28-15) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves committees and boards for 2015, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 29-15) of Frank Turco, seconded by Ed Lapish that council requests staff draw up information on wording of signs for public areas around the municipality. CARRIED

The Algoma District School Board will be requested to provide information on the building for sale - Laird Central Public School.

ON MOTION (No. 30-15) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports concerns of Canadian Union of Postal Workers, and petitions the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to request the federal government consult with the public about what kind of postal service they require before allowing Canada Post to make major changes to public postal service. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 31-15) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
