MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 8 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N APRIL 22, 2015
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 68-15) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves council minutes of April 8, 2015 as presented. CARRIED
Edith Orr Chair of Central Algoma Freshwater Coalition along with Jamie Melville a Maskinonge Bay property owner spoke to council about algae bloom in Maskinonge Bay. The issue has been escalating over the last 11 or 12 years, and the higher water in the bay has not alleviated the problem. Testing will be done to determine what, if anything can be done to eliminate the algae. Council will look at assistance at budget time and after the determination of probable causes.
It was the consensus of council that the newly formed Wharf Committee consists of Todd Rydall as chair and members Road Superintendent Mike Hunter, Jack Priest, Donna Connolly and Pete Beaulieu.
ON MOTION (No. 69-15) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves general accounts to April 22, 2015 as presented in the amount of $70,077.63. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 70-15) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves road accounts to March 31, 2015 as presented in the amount of $22,384.63. CARRIED
A township road tour will be conducted on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., starting at the municipal garage.
ON MOTION (No. 71-15) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves By-law 962-15 reducing front yard requirements on back lot 6, on Finns' Bay Road. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 72-15) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council requests Laird Signs provide an estimate on signs, as discussed. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 73-15) of Frank Turco, seconded by Wayne Junor that council donates $100.00 to Teen Game Night Game-a-Thon at the Richards Landing Legion. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 74-15) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports MPP Sylvia Jones' Bill 36, Respecting Private Property Act, as presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 75-15) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves By-law 964-15 appointing Brenda Aelick as Provincial Offences Officer for the Township of Laird. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 76-15) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
