MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 20 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N JANUARY 6, 2016

ON MOTION (No. 01-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves council minutes of December 9, 2015, as presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 02-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves general accounts to January 6, 2016 as presented in the amount of $18,337.51. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 03-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves write-off of minor amounts of tax arrears under $5.00 in the amount of $19.83. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 04-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports resolution of Township of Oro Medonte regarding review of costs, etc. related to Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 05-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the resolution of Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards in petitioning the Provincial Government reinstate incentives for physicians to practice in rural areas of Ontario. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 06-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports resolution of West Nipissing in petitioning the Ontario Ministry of Energy provide expansion of natural gas services for northern Ontario communities. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 07-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports the resolution of West Nipissing in requesting the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care consider amending qualifying critera for the Northern Health Travel Grant permitting roundtrips exceeding 100 km be eligible for reimbursement. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 08-16) of Frank Turco, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports resolution of West Nipissing calling on the Minister of Transportation to expedite its re-classification of Northern Ontario highways that will ensure that maintenance is tailored to each individual highway, thus ensuring that safety and security of all northern travelers. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 09-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall passes
By-law 972-16 setting interim tax rates for 2016. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 10-16) of Frank Turco, seconded by Wayne Junor that council endorses Algoma Public Health's initiative to support a district-wide strategy to reduce smoking rates by 5% over the next five years. CARRIED
It was the consensus of council that both the Mayor and Chair of the Police Services Board should be in attendance when choosing the next District Commander.
Councillor Rydall reported that there has to be additional clearing on the east side of the roadway to the wharf and a 75' area cleared behind the fence. It was the consensus of council to advance 75% of the quoted amount to Steve Konka.
ON MOTION (No. 11-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
