MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 25 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MARCH 16, 2016
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 42-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves council minutes of March 2, 2016. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 43-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves road accounts to February 29, 2016, as presented in the amount of $36,217.89. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 44-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves general accounts to March 16, 2016, as presented in the amount of $9,653.23. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 45-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that council advises D. Varcoe of its decision regarding proposed 2016 race schedule for Laird International Raceway. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 46-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Wayne Junor that council request Tulloch Engineering complete a report on Lapish Road bridge, as per recommendation. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 47-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports resolution #16-95 of the Township of Minden Hills in petitioning the Provincial Government review and reconsider the new OPP billing mode; Reconsider assuming a larger portion of the overall OPP budget for all Ontario municipalities serviced by the OPP; Perform an in-depth review of the current expenditures in order to reduce the cost per household. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 48-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports resolution of the Township of Burpee and Mills in petitioning the Provincial Government to assist with paying fair tax on all properties with conservation status designed under the CLTIP, provide provincial grants in lieu for such lands and place a moratorium on all further CLTIP designations until this issue is resolved. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 49-16) of Frank Turco, seconded by Wayne Junor that council requests the Premier of Ontario act in the best interest of all Ontarians and in fact, all Canadians, that everything that can be done, will be done to prevent anyone or any organization from diverting water from any of the Great Lakes.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 50-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Frank Turco that council amends its agreement with the Marriage Officiant to reflect the cost of the fee be increased from $200 to $250, effective January 1, 2017. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 51-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the United Way Campaign with a donation of $300.00. CARRIED
The municipality will enquire as to what costs would be associated with obtaining third party liability coverage for those persons renting its facilities.
ON MOTION (No. 52-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports the Request for Reconsideration of Ed Lapish to have three properties combined into one, for assessment purposes. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 53-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
