MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 27 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MAY 18, 2016
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 72-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves council minutes of April 20, and recreation committee minutes of April 26, 2016, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 73-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves road accounts to April 30, 2016 as presented in the amount of $14,994.85. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 74-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves general accounts to May 18, 2016 as presented in the amount of $13,900.22 CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 75-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council awards $20.00 to each Laird student graduating from grade eight, and $50.00 to each Laird students graduating from grade twelve. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 76-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports the resolution of Champlain Township in petitioning the Provincial government cease promoting solar farms and wind turbines where it pays the producers much higher rates than it can charge per kilowatt. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 77-16) of Frank Turco, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the Trefry Centre's 22nd Anniversary Seniors Barbeque by honouring Sally Kennedy. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 78-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports resolution 16-154 of City of Timmins, petitioning the Government of Ontario to regulate fuel prices to the levels that are affordable and profitable as in jurisdictions within Ontario that have lower fuel prices. CARRIED

The horse arena at the fairgrounds was discussed with regard to refurbishing of the grounds, and the removal of posts and boards.

Councillor Turco offered to deliver notices to those on Finns' Bay Road North that may wish to have trenching done in order to cross the road with a conduit, prior to a third coat of surface treatment being applied in 2017.

ON MOTION (No. 79-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves bi-annual bridge appraisal supplied by Tulloch Engineering in the amount of $2,369.61. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 80-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council communicates with Macdonald, Meredith and Aberdeen Additional township that is will supply one student to the joint recreation summer program, as the Federal Government cut Laird's request for three students to one. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 81-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
