MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 30 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N JULY 27, 2016
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 109-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves council minutes of June 22, recreation committee minutes of June 21 and Laird fairgrounds management board minutes of July 21, 2016, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 110-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts to June 30, 2016 as presented in the amount of $28,944.30. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 111-16) of Frank Turco, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves general accounts to July 27, 2016 as presented in the amount of $24,237.15. CARRIED

Peter Jurich spoke to council and outlined eight issues that would assist with maintaining and integrity and longevity of the newly constructed arena. The issue of insurance was raised and it was mentioned that anyone wanting to be covered by individual insurance could pay $15 to the Algoma Horse Association and be covered by Ontario Equine Federation insurance. Two stalls are to be dedicated to Peter Jurich, #61 and #62, in lieu of time spent in designing and overseeing construction of the new arena.

ON MOTION (No. 112-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports the Central Algoma Food for Everyone Project led by Rural Agri-Innovation Network in partnership with North Channel Poverty Awareness Network in collaboration with North Channel communities and organizations, by giving in-kind contributions and encouraging volunteers to participate. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 113-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council advises property owner on Pumpkin Point Road West that the trailer must be moved from its present location and not live in it, by September 30, 2016. CARRIED

A letter is to be sent to another Pumpkin Point Road West land owner regarding a trailer issue.

ON MOTION (No. 114-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council advises the Desbarats to Echo Bay Planning Board that it would have no objection to having property as represented by Planning Board Number L2017-07 divided as requested, due to mitigating circumstances. CARRIED

It was the consensus that Reed's Roofing be asked to complete the south side of the Knox Presbyterian Church roof.

ON MOTION (No. 115-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports AMO's request to Waste Diversion Ontario to release $500,000 to assist with Bill 151. CARRIED

It was the consensus of council to not supply North Shore Agricultural Society with money for entertaining.

ON MOTION (No. 116-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Frank Turco that council appoints Peter Jurich to the Laird Fairgrounds Management Board, effective immediately. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 117-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council supports the Municipality of Wawa in Petitioning the Ministry to amend the Northern Travel Grant Framework, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 118-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
