MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 33 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N SEPTEMBER 7, 2016
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.


Present:
Mayor: Dick Beitz
Councillors: Wayne Junor, Ed Lapish, Todd Rydall, Frank Turco
Road Superintendent: Michael Hunter

ON MOTION (No. 129-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves council minutes of August 24, 2016, as presented. CARRIED

Discussion took place on the accident on Lakeview Road where a culvert was damaged. It was the consensus of council to bill the adjacent land owner for repair costs.

ON MOTION (No. 130-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves general accounts to September 7, 2016 as presented in the amount of $10,943.91. CARRIED

Area municipalities will be asked about their policy regarding third party insurance on rental of buildings and grounds. Blank coverage by the municipality of these rentals will also be investigated.

ON MOTION (No. 131-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports Municipality of Wawa in its efforts to inform the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing as to restrictions that small municipalities are faced with regarding grant applications. The lack of capacity to complete the onerous tasks associated with grant applications is preventing projects from moving forward in the North. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 132-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council authorizes attendance of two staff members at the MSO-North Planning Workshop in Sudbury, September 28-29, 2016. CARRIED

Mayor Beitz reported on his attendance at the Algoma Power Inc. and Algoma Coalition meeting held at the Laird Hall on August 31, 2016.

ON MOTION (No. 133-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council closes the next portion of the meeting to discuss property and personal issues. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 134-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council returns to open meeting. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 135-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that the council meeting be adjourned.
