ON MOTION (No. 147-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves council minutes of September 21, 2016, as presented. CARRIED
Matthew Kahtava spoke to council about having his mother's property severed so that she would have the smaller section, and he could build a house on the larger portion.
ON MOTION (No. 148-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council tables consent request for property on Government Road until the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs answers concerns of the municipality. CARRIED
Donnie Varcoe spoke to council about plans to convert the asphalt track to a clay track. Opinions in support of this plan were given. It was the consensus of council to table this issue until the next meeting to allow all councillors a chance to have any questions they may have, answered before the meeting.
ON MOTION (No. 149-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council advises the Recreation Committee/Bar River Rink Committee that it would be less confusing for everyone if they would include equipment, time and wages in any rink grant applied for. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 150-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves general accounts to October 5, 2016, in the amount of $8,599.22, as presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 151-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports the town of Aurora regarding Ontario Municipal Board reforms. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 152-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council applies to the Ministry of Transportation for permission to construct a residential building on Lot 10, Plan H752, Laird Township. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 153-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports the resolution of St. Joseph Township regarding the Algoma Coalition. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 154-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports MPP Michael Mantha in petitioning the Provincial Government to remove age restrictions in accessing the shingles vaccine. CARRIED
A report was made on complaint to the Ombudsman.
It was the consensus of council that a letter be sent to a property owner on Finns' Bay Road who appears to be carrying on a business from a residential property.
Mayor Beitz reported on the Algoma District Municipal Association fall workshop, held October 1, 2016 at the Echo Bay Community Centre.
The newly appointed S/Sgt. of the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police will be contacted regarding concerns of council and requesting a police service board meeting.
