MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 35 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N OCTOBER 19, 2016

ON MOTION (No. 156-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves council minutes of October 5, and recreation committee minutes of September 27, 2016, as presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 157-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council applies for the replacement of Lapish Road Bridge under Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund at a total cost of $1.5 million, at 90% funding. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 158-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts to September 30, 2016, as presented in the amount of $61,340.08. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 159-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves general accounts to October 19, 2016, as presented in the amount of $15,809.28. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 160-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council would look favourably on conveyance request for 2052 Government Road. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 161-16) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves quote of Eternal Monuments for repair of 17 monuments at the Laird Cemetery, in the amount of $1,500 plus HST.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 162-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves write-off of tax amounts under $5.00 for a total of $21.90. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 163-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports CUPW by advising Canada Post's Phase 2 Review that it does not wish to see any further reduction in service. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 164-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports Grey County's request to the Province to re-evaluate the structure of electricity billing in Ontario and how it negatively affects rural residents, especially those who are already unable to pay for the high cost of hydro. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 165-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports City of Belleville in its support of MPP for Huron-Bruce's private members bill to eliminate barriers to employment opportunities for Certified Crop Advisor, and allow Ontario farmers the freedom to engage in business with the expert of their choice. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 166-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council advises Donnie Varcoe that it would consider his request to construct a clay track should he allow one or two councillors to attend a drivers' meeting to discuss changes proposed to the track, and completes payment ($10,000) for the 2016 lease agreement. CARRIED
It was the consensus of council to set the next three meetings as November 9 and 23, and December 14, 2016.
ON MOTION (No. 167-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
