MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 35 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N NOVEMBER 9, 2016
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.


Present:
Mayor: Dick Beitz
Councillors: Wayne Junor, Ed Lapish, Todd Rydall, Frank Turco

ON MOTION (No. 168-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves council minutes of October 19, and recreation committee minutes of October 25, 2016, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 169-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves general accounts to November 9, 2016, as presented in the amount of $48,826.06. CARRIED

It was the consensus of council to coordinate with API regarding the changing of culvert on Neebish Rd. W.

ON MOTION (No. 170-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves of reducing the speed limit on Lapish Rd. from Bar River Rd. to Black Creek, 80 km per hr. to 50 km per hr., for safety concerns. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 171-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Frank Turco that council donates $200.00 to Scouts Canada to help with 2017 Rendezvous, their annual outing. CARRIED

It was the consensus of council to revisit the Sault Area Hospital Volunteer Assoc. request for donation at budget time.

ON MOTION (No. 172-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Frank Turco that council would look favourably on severance request at the corner of Rydall Mill Rd. and Government Rd. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 173-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the resolution of Charlton and Dack regarding new election requirements CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 174-16) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that Laird Township agrees to purchase abrasive sand from Broadspectrum as required as per agreement. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 175-16) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED

It was the consensus of the committee to allow the Recreation Committee to use the ½ ton truck to pull a float in this year's Christmas Parade as long as Road Super or Machine Operator is available to drive.

Council discussed converting the asphalt track to a clay track provided that D. Varcoe secure a bond in favour of the township to be used should clean-up of clay from asphalt track not be completed. Mayor Beitz will let Mr. Varcoe know.


Councillor Rydall reported on the meeting with MNRF regarding Elk damage and that no compensation is available for farmers.
