MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 53 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N JULY 26, 2016
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 111-17) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves minutes of July 26, 2017, as presented. CARRIED

Algoma Horse Association members spoke to council regarding agenda item 5. e), the matter of refurbishing the horse arena after winter settling. It was the consensus of council that the quote of Darwin Belleau be recommended to the Laird Fairgrounds Management Board. Revenue, derived from scrap to be removed from the perimeter of the fairgrounds, will be used to offset the cost.

Colleen Alloi, President of the North Shore Agricultural Society (NSAS) spoke to council. The President feels that documentation of communications between Council and NSAS is essential for a better working relationship. A letter to Members of Laird Council from Girlie Collings, Secretary of the North Shore Agricultural Society, and signed by Girlie and Colleen, was received July 7, 2017. A number of items in this letter are of concern to council, staff and volunteers. North Shore Agricultural Society President Colleen Alloi was urged to have her organization rescind the above noted letter, in order to facilitate improved communications.

ON MOTION (No. 112-17) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Wayne Junor that council approves road accounts to July 31, 2017 as presented in the amount of $20,431.46. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 113-17) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves the general accounts to August 23, 2017, as presented in the amount of $14,359.67. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 114-17) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves appointment of James Withers to the Desbarats to Echo Bay Planning Board, replacing Allen Prodan who has moved from the area. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 115-17) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves establishment of a vulnerable persons registry in co-operation with SooVPR. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 116-17) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves consent application of Leslie and Karen Zelonko regarding Lot 6 RCP H755, Section 28, Township of Laird, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 117-17) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports resolution C216-17 of Township of Georgian Bay in petitioning the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change and the Ministry of Transportation to work collaboratively to eradicate invasive species on Provincially owned lands. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 118-17) of Wayne Junor, seconded by Todd Rydall that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
