MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 8 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N MAY 16, 2019
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No.46-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves council minutes of April 17 and recreation committee minutes of April 30, 2019, as presented. CARRIED

Algoma Power Inc. representatives spoke to council regarding proposed 2019 activities.

Reviewed 2019 road budget to be incorporated into the general budget, as well as allowing ATVs and bikes access to closed Lakeview bridge.

ON MOTION (No. 47-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves general accounts to May 16, 2019 as presented in the amount of $3,531.24. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 48-19) of Frank Turco, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves road accounts to April 30, 2019 as presented in the amount of $20,926.32. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 49-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves donation to Echo Bay Elks in the amount of $300 to be used for Canada Day celebrations. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 50-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports Algoma Family Services request to the Ontario Minister of Health and Long-term Care to approve funding for a regional level III residential withdrawal facility to be located in Sault Ste. Marie. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 51-19) Frank Turco, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the City of Brantford regarding single-use plastic straws and eventual elimination of same. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 52-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports the resolution of Township of McKellar in petitioning the Ontario government to restore the funding to Ontario Library Service North and Southern Ontario Library Service at a minimum of 2018 funding. CARRIED

The underside of the Bar River hall will be investigated for information to place in a possible Request for Proposal for repairs.

ON MOTION (No. 53-19) Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council supports CASS Graduations for Grade 8 and 12 with donations of $25 and $50 respectively for each Laird graduate. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 54-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
