MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 8 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N JUNE 20, 2019
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No.55-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council approves council minutes of May 16 and recreation committee minutes of April 28, 2019, as presented. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 56-19) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves, in principal, the proposal of Fernando Carullo to develop Lot 38 on Pine Island Road, subject to meeting all appropriate regulations. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 57-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council approves road accounts to May 31, 2019 as presented in the amount of $18,667.73. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 58-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves general accounts to June 20, 2019 as presented in the amount of $5,841.86. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 59-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves draft budget as amended to reflect a 2% residential rate increase.
CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 60-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council approves Strategic Asset Management Policy for Laird Township, as presented and amended. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 61-19) of Frank Turco, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council supports the Township of Bonnechere Valley in petitioning the Parliament of Canada to remove the proposed changes to Section 2(2) of the Fisheries Act as amended by Bill C-68. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 62-19) of Frank Turco, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council supports Resolution 131-2019 of the Township of McNab/Braeside respecting education adjustments whereby secondary school students will be required to take four (4) out of thirty (30) high school credits as online courses. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 63-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports the consent application of Tim Sweet for a severed lot of 5.32 Acres, along Townline Road. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 64-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves CBT Excavating's quote of $20,315.14 for installation of culverts as discussed. CARRIED
Summer meeting dates are set for July 25th and August 22nd, 2019.
ON MOTION (No. 65-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council supports Resolution No. C-2019-0370 of the Town of Georgina in calling upon the Province of Ontario through the discussion paper `Reducing Litter and Waste in our Communities' to review and implement a deposit/return program for all single use plastic, aluminum and metal drink containers. CARRIED
The Ministry of Transportation will be communicated with regarding access to Highway 17 for businesses.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry will be communicated with regarding heavy rains and McCarrell Lake dam activities on June 10, 2019.
ON MOTION (No. 66-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council closes the next portion of the meeting to discuss personal issues. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 67-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that the council returns to open meeting. CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. 68-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council advises property owner of Application 357 that it does not approve the application regarding tax relief for property at 63 Birch Point Drive. CARRIED
It was the consensus of council that David Pollari immediately assume the duties of Road Superintendent.
ON MOTION (No. 69-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
