MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 9 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N JULY 25 , 2019
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.


Present:

Councillors: Shawn Evoy, Ed Lapish, Todd Rydall, Frank Turco

No one appeared before council to present an objection or agreement to proposed zoning by-law amendment for 94 Lapish Road.

ON MOTION (No.70-19) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves minutes of June 20, and recreation committee minutes of May 28, 2019, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 71-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves zoning amendment for 94 Lapish Road, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 72-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council closes the next portion of the meeting to discuss personal issues. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 73-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council returns to open meeting. CARRIED

Colleen Alloi, chair of North Shore Agricultural Society dropped in to discuss baseball diamonds, Algoma Horse and Pony Clubs requirements, using the inside of the race track to set up a Ninja course as well as requesting a donation towards children's events.

ON MOTION No. 74-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council approves road accounts to June 30, 2019 as presented in the amount of $30,475.53. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 75-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves general accounts to July 265, 2019 as presented in the amount of $9,774.79. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 76-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council donates $1,000 to children's events at the North Shore Agricultural Society Annual Fair. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 77-19) of Frank Turco, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports the concerns of the Municipality of Wawa that in reducing the 35 heal units to 10 provincial entities, it will put the health of Ontarians at risk. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 78-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council supports the Township of Warwick regarding enforcement for safety on family farms. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 79-19) of Frank Turco, seconded by Ed Lapish that council advises Johnson Township that it would be happy to discuss sharing services, but doesn't feel a consultant is required to complete a study. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 80-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the City of Stratford I petitioning the Provincial Government rethink the upcoming changes to the Planning Act and objects specifically to reverting to the abolished OMB rather than continue on with the recently established Land Planning Appeal Tribunal. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 81-19) of Todd Ryall, seconded by Ed Lapish that council accepts Road Department Report of David Pollari, from June 19, to July 19, 2019, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 82-19) of Ed Lapish, seconded by Todd Rydall that council closes the next portion of the meeting to discuss e-mail received by council regarding personal issue. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 83-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council returns to open meeting. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 84-19) of Frank Turco, seconded by Todd Rydall that council appoints Brenda Aelick as Livestock Valuer for the Township of Laird. CARRIED

Mayor Beitz went around the table asking councillors if they had anything new. The following topics were discussed: Packing of waste disposal site, web-site updated, glass at waste disposal site, speed on Government Road, bump at bridge on Government Road and inspection of bleachers at fairgrounds.

ON MOTION (No. 85-19) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Ed Lapish that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
