MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBER 15 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N FEBRUARY 20, 2020
AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE
AT 7:30 P.M.

ON MOTION (No. 12-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves council minutes of January 16 and recreation committee minutes of January 27, 2020, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 13-20) of Frank Turco, seconded by Todd Rydall that council approves road accounts to January 31, 2020, as presented in the amount of $18,628.73. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 14-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council approves general accounts to February 20, 2020, as presented in the amount of $9,654.49. CARRIED

It was the consensus of council that the road superintendent be paid the going rate for mileage for use of personal vehicle.

ON MOTION (No. 15-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council approves offering to sell Lot 28, RCP H762 to the adjoining neighbours as it does not meet the requirements for a single lot. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 16-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves rebate of $593.00 to Scotia Bank on Roll Number 4-19291. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 17-20) that council supports resolution of Warwick Township in petitioning the Honourable Doug Downey, Attorney General of Ontario, to work with his fellow MPPs and agricultural leaders to find a better way forward to ensure stronger enforcement of existing laws - or new legislation - to ensure the safety of Ontario's farm families, employees and animals. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 18-20) of Frank Turco, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports resolution of Chatham-Kent which in turn supports Bill 156: Security from Trespass and Protecting Food Safety Act. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 19-20) of Frank Turco, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports the City of Sarnia in petitioning the halting of construction of the Deep Geological Repository, in the Bruce Peninsula, so that less dangerous solutions can be found for the longer storage of nuclear waste. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 20-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council calls upon the Ontario government to halt the closures of, mergers of, and cuts to our local health care services including Public Health Units, land ambulance services, hospitals and long-term care homes, in support of Seniors' Health Advisory Committee's rationale. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 21-20) that council supports the Village of Merrickville-Wolford in its concerns regarding the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry designating Provincially Significant Wetland in the Provincial Policy Statement, without the provision of supporting evidence. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 22-20) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Todd Rydall that council disburse funds from the one-time Provincial funding to municipalities for modernization, service delivery and capital expenditures, for the purchase of new computers for the administrative office, as outlined. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 23-20) of Frank Turco, seconded by Todd Rydall that council supports Prince Edward County Resolution No. 2020-057 in petitioning the Federal Government review regulations related to consumer packaging on sing-use wipes to remove the word "flushable." CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 24-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council closes the next portion of the meeting to the public to review a legal matter. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 25-20) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Todd Rydall that council returns to open meeting. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 26-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that council thanks Provenzano Law for its letter of February 10, 2020 referencing activities by land owner of Roll #1-00215, appreciates the information, and advises that council has nothing further to add at this time. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 27-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that the council meeting be adjourned. CARRIED
