MINUTES OF MEETING NUMBERS 23 OF
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD
HELD 0N AUGUST 20, 2020
VIA TELECONFERENCING AND AT LAIRD HALL


Present:

The council meeting opened a 7:30 p.m. with council members, Phyllis MacKay and David Pollari present at Laird hall.

ON MOTION (No. 76-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Frank Turco that council approves council minutes of July 23 and notes of August 10, 2020, as presented. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 77-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that Council approves road accounts to July 31, 2020 as presented in the amount of $211,885.98. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 78-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that Council approves general accounts to August 20, 2020, as presented in the amount of $2,435.81. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No 79-20) of Frank Turco, seconded by Todd Rydall that Council approves By-law 1022-20 authorizing the replacement of yield sign at corner of Pumpkin Point Road West and Point Drive, with a stop sign. CARRIED

It was the consensus of Council to retender for repairs to the Bar River Hall at the end of September, with completion to be the end of November.

ON MOTION (No. 80-20) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Todd Rydall that Council approves work proposal of Tulloch Engineering for roof replacement engineering for municipal garage, at a cost of $6,800.00. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 81-20) of Frank Turco, seconded by Shawn Evoy that Council supports South Glengarry in petitioning the Provincial Government provide funding to increase full-time positions in place of casual and part-time labour in long-term care homes, and request that the Ministry of Long-term Care acts to regularly inspect all long-term care homes. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No 82-20) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that Council has a by-law drafted permitting off-road vehicles, as per Ministry of Transportation's recent Additional Off-road Vehicles Allowed On-road publication, on Laird Township Roads. CARRIED

Councillors Evoy and Rydall will meet at the G.W. Evoy Memorial Rink to review repair requirements for the 2020-2021 season.

It was the consensus of council to enquire of Tulloch Engineering if engineering fees may be lower, should previous drawings be used for the Lakeview Bridge.

Cutting equipment of Forax for the grader was discussed. Additional information is to be obtained.

ON MOTION (No 83-20) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Frank Turco that the council meeting be adjourned at 9 p.m. CARRIED
