Hours for Thursday and Friday are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and regular hours on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Businesses are excluded. Items to be burned will not be accepted if a fire ban is in place. Do not put recyclable material in the land fill! Residents are reminded to place all recyclable material in the recycle bins provided at the disposal site or the two other locations, at the Environmental Station in Echo Bay or Highway 17 Trading Post, corner Highway 17 and Highway 548. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility is now open at 115 Industrial Park Crescent, Sault Ste. Marie. Styrofoam is accepted free of charge at this site. Hours of operation are Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A new facility, Community Recycling Depot, for recycling computers and other electronics, as well as styrofoam has opened at 285 Wilson Street, in Sault Ste. Marie. Depot is open Tuesday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Recycling costs are as follows: Computer System (monitor/tower/keyboard/printer) $5.00 Monitor ONLY $5.00 Combination (of three electronic items) $5.00 Styrofoam $2.00 Cell Phones Free Ink Cartridges Free With all the options listed above, please do your best to recycle as much as possible from your household and business. Laird Township Council does not want to spend your money closing the existing site, then searching and opening a new land fill. This operation is extremely expensive!!!!
